The new and powerful RSI-scan software now replaces the older versions of R2001Base and RamanDesktop software. RSI-scan is designed with the end user in mind, providing a very simple interface, user-friendly operation and yet a very broad array or functions and capabilities. Here are some of the features of RSI-scan.
There are now four measurement modes - Standard mode collects background each time a measurement is made, and is the most recommended method. Multiple mode allows the user to take multiple measurements and is often used when the sample is inhomogenous, and it is required to average over a broad sample surface area. Focus mode is used when it is required to focus on a very small spot of the sample, or on a very small surface. The system acquires snapshot spectra for the preset time interval and allows the user to move the probe in x-, y- and z- axis, thereby optimizing the position of the probe. Auto mode allows the user to set a series of measurements, with rest periods in between two measurements, typically used for overnight stability measurements, or during process control measurements on remotely located samples.
RSI-scan offers a frame-based integration of the spectroscopic signal. A frame can be defined as a unit of time that the actual sample measurement is taken. Assuming that the spectrum does not change during the total time of acquisition, one can use either one frame (entire time of acquisition) or break it up into several frames (of smaller acquisition times) and then co-add the frames. For example, a 60-second integration can be done in one frame of 60 seconds, or two frames of 30 seconds, or four frames of 15 second each. For more information on frames, and their advantages, please refer to our FAQ on software.
Background subract is optional - further, when selected, the software allows the user to take the background for each measurement or use a single background for several measurements.
Spectral Display available in either single, overlaid or stacked mode.
RSI-scan offers a very easy interpretation of spectral results, including an identification of the spectrum (if the material already exists in the database), display of peaks (location and intensity) associated with the measurement, display of measurement parameters and a unique measurement ID.
The main display window displays the spectrum (in Raman shift or in pixel numbers on the CCD) and optional peak locations.
Creating, Importing, Editing and Verifying a library is a very easy and user-friendly process. RSI-scan can incorporate libraries built by third party software, as long as the files are saved in SPC format. Please contact us for details on how to import a Raman database into RSI-scan.
Identification of unknown materials using the library is a one-click process, via the RSI-ident program, which is inbuilt in RSI-scan. The user simply needs to click on Measure, which automatically records the spectrum using pre-set (user defined) parameters, compares the spectra with the loaded library and returns the results in a very user-friendly (customizable) interface, as seen above.
